The Triton Poker Cyprus Special Edition concluded its action on Thursday after four events and millions of dollars in prize money were awarded to winners. Phil Ivey, the 10-time World Series of Poker champion, stood out among the rest, as he has managed to win the Short Deck title.

The Poker Hall of Famer added to his long list of accomplishments in poker. This event has attracted a large audience, and it was a welcome addition to the series. In the following article, we will give you a brief overview of Triton Poker’s action

Phil Ivey Wins Another Short Deck Title

Phil Ivey’s final table burst was enough to propel him to victory in Event #3: $75,000 Short Deck, taking home $1,170,000. This is his third final-table appearance at the Triton Poker Cyprus festival in four events. Ivey was able to beat Wai Kiat Lee heads-up to win his second Short Deck High Roller title in eight months, following his success at the Super High Roller Bowl Europe festival last year. His previous four live tournament victories have all come in the Short Deck format, with titles in Cyprus, Sochi, and Montenegro.

The final day started with only 11 players remaining and only 7 spots paid. Mikita Badziakouski, Daniel Cates, and Chris Brewer were the first participants to go. Mike Watson, who was the chip leader as the tournament approached the money bubble, eliminated the last two. The Yong family had varied luck, with Richard Yong doubling to stay alive and Wai Kin Yong being sent to the rail by Phil Ivey, with the surviving players being guaranteed $194,500. During the opening exchanges, Watson extended his chip lead while Elton Tsang and Jason Koon exchanged the doubles. Ivey would eliminate Ivan Leow soon after, and another double from Yong would deal lots of damage to Watson’s charge for the title.

Yong was then eliminated by Ivey, who sent Jason Koon to the showers mere minutes later to take the lead. Wai Kiat Lee was able to stay solid and get into the four-handed play, as he sent Tsang to the rail in order to stay in the competition. However, Ivey’s elimination of Watson in third place gave him a more than 2:1 chip advantage entering heads-up, and he dispatched Lee in the first hand of heads-up to win the championship and a seven-figure first-place prize.

Here are the final table results:

Winfred Yu Wins Triton Poker Cyprus Event #5 for $1,010,000

The 2022 Triton Poker Cyprus has wrapped up its action with Winfred Yu topping the field of 41 entries in order to claim his second Triton Poker victory. Yu even had to outlast one of his close friends, Ivan Leow, to win the grand prize of $1,010,000 USD.

Only the top six players would make the money after 41 entries were logged on the day. Wei Hsiang Yu was the unlucky one to be eliminated on the money bubble after running ace-jack into Elton Tsang’s pocket queens. Despite having two pairs on the board, Yu was unable to hold on as there were four clubs on the table, which gave Tsang a flush. Ferdinand Putra remained the shortest stack and spent little time before throwing his chips in the middle, but was eliminated in sixth place with a min-cash. The last five players fought for nearly two hours before the next elimination.

It took two excellent hands for all of the chips to be placed in the center, with Daniel Dvoress holding ace-king and Yu holding pocket kings. Dvoress was eliminated in fifth place despite a nine-high board. Tsang’s ace-queen also ran against Danny Tang’s pocket kings just seconds later. In a matter of three minutes, the field was shrunk down to just three players Tang has gained momentum after his recent knockout to take the chip lead, but his aggressive style of play has eventually caught up with him. Tang took his shot with queen-ten, but Leow called with pocket kings soon after. Tang was able to flop a pair but did not see much luck after that.

That left the last two players, Yu and Leow, to compete for the crown, with Yu emerging victorious just after a couple of hands.

Here are the final table results:

Place Player Country Prize
1st Winfred Yu Hong Kong $1,010,000
2nd Ivan Leow Malaysia $699,500
3rd Danny Tang Hong Kong $447,000
4th Elton Tsang Hong Kong $343,000
5th Daniel Dvoress Canada $268,000
6th Ferdinand Putra Poland $208,500

Teun Mulder was able to come out on top in a six-figure buy-in event at Triton Poker. He has managed to power his way through a field of 69 entries, which has generated a total prize pool of $6.6 million. On top of that, the two have even predicted their own heads-up battle before the tournament. Vogelsang was awarded $1.4 million as a runner-up prize and Jake Schindler was awarded $903,000 for his third-place finish.

Andras Nemeth Wins Event #1 $50,000 NLHE Six-Handed

Andras Nemeth is a well-known Hungarian online poker superstar. He has kicked off the series with an impressive win for $1.1 million. Nemeth has managed to overcome a field of 82 entries, which has generated a total prize pool of $3.9 million.

Here is what Andras Nemeth had to say about his victory:

“It wasn’t easy. The final table was really tough. I was a little bit nervous at the start and I made a couple of … well, it was close but I made some not good decisions. Then when we got short-stacked, it was all about who was going to win the first major all-in. It was surreal to play for the first time and to then get heads-up against one of my best friends in poker. I had to pinch myself.”

Nemeth had to go up against his fellow Hungarian Laszlo Bujtas for the title. Bujtas was awarded $770,000 for his second-place finish.
